Farmers’ Markets Founder and Market Manager Joan O’Connor is actively looking for a creative, community-spirited partner who can provide a site and site-related services for the winter seasons. The ideal indoor market location will have great road access and visibility, be 12-15,000 square feet indoors, with at least 100-150 parking spaces, and be minimally heated. Although the markets have had great success in the Lakes Region, O’Connor is expanding her view to include other parts of the state. “I can take this anywhere,” she said.

For a business interested in doing something great for their community and for local economic development, as well as assuming a high-profile leadership role, this is a win-win.” O’Connor also seeks donations and financial support for the expansion and relocation initiative.

Joan O’Connor, a resident of Henniker, has long been active on both agriculture and farmers’ markets initiatives in New Hampshire. She founded the successful Concord Winter Farmers’ Market before creating the Tilton Winter Farmers’ Market in 2011. She has been active as a volunteer on a variety of issues affecting small farms and producers in the state. She currently serves as a board member for the Northeast Organic Farming Association of NH (NOFA-NH). Most recently, she strategized with her State Representative and Senator to bring forward Senate Bill 306. This law now allows beer and wine tasting at farmers’ markets. To permit the sampling of beer and wine at farmers’ markets, NH joins several other states which also offer this marketing opportunity to local wineries and microbreweries.

Interested citizens or business owners who have ideas about a perfect location for a thriving indoor farmers’ market (or businesses and individuals interested in providing financial support) should contact Joan O’Connor by phone at 603.496.1718 or email at joconnornh@yahoo.com.

What started as the Concord Winter Farmers’ Market has been moved to Tilton – so it will now be called the Tilton Winter Farmers’ Market.

Still organized by the same Joan  of Joan’s Famous Composting Worms, and still the same great indoor Winter escape with the smell of fresh produce and sweet baked goods. And the best part? Great parking! Well, that’s not really the best part, but it helps.

The first Winter Market is set for January 7th,  Saturday, 10 am to 2 pm. and will follow EVERY Saturday until April.

Driving is easy – right off exit 20 from I-93. Go west towards Tilton, 1/2 mile and you can’t miss it.

Stay tuned for more information. If you would like to be a vendor, please contact Joan O’Connor

See you there!!

The Concord Winter Farmers’ Market had 7 fantastic markets! We averaged 1100 customers at each date. The vendors reported record-breaking sales, sometimes surpassing their Summer sales figures.  The customers loved the warm greenhouse and access to their favorite foods and seeing all their friends and neighbors. Keep checking in for updates. Happy Spring!

We are delighted to announce the addition of one more Market in April!! This Saturday’s Market, March 26th, is now officially the second to last. There should be lots of fresh greens available with this additional date, in addition to all the other wonderful vendors.

So mark your calender for Saturday, April 9th; 10 am to 2 pm at Cole Gardens! See you there.

We have another great Market planned. Shake off the Winter doldrums and enjoy the warm greenhouse. Thirty vendors with beautiful, local produce and products will bring you joy! See you on Saturday?

This Saturday look for a new vendor with fresh, beautiful sprouts! Rick Barry from Random Hills Farm grows about 7 different varieties.  It’s supposed to be a sunny, bright day. Come spend a few hours in the greenhouse among 30 vendors with wonderful goods.

Farmers markets aren’t just for farmers and food seekers. You can actually buy some serious Valentine’s gifts there. Who doesn’t like homemade, sweet and soft fudge? Who doesn’t like smooth body lotions and romantic smelling balms? And for the cook who has everything, a jar of homemade chutney to round out any special meal. Are you cooking a special meal? Add in amazing local fruits, vegetables, meats and seafood. And if your true love is a dog, New Hampshire made doggy treats will fill the bill.

But the most traditional of all Valentine’s Day gifts is flowers. Since the Farmers’ market is at Cole Gardens, you’ll have flowers and plants galore to choose from.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

This year the Concord Winter Farmers’ Market will take place on two Saturdays in the month of February, the 12th & 26th, 10 am-2 pm. The January Market was extremely successful and we look foward to what February has to offer.

As a reminder, please BYOB (bring your own bag) if you can. This helps the farmers keep their costs down and is better for the environment!

This Saturday, Mill Fudge Factory returns for the season. We also have a new vendor to the Concord area – Nila’s Chutneys! Come and samples some wonderful additions to the market.
